A Dancer’s Christmas, created by professionally trained dancer and renowned choreographer, Reverend Robert VerEecke, S. J, is a colorful, festive celebration of the transforming power of the Christmas spirit. Fr. Bob expertly weaves classical and modern ballet, traditional folk dancing, even an Irish step dance throughout three acts, each of which expresses the awe, joy and transforming power of Christmas. Act I “InDwelling” Feel the puzzlement of Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, magi and other biblical characters, transformed to Nativity joy as they follow the angels and their own hearts to the inner birth of Christmas joy. Act II, “Once Upon a Christmas” Laugh with irreverent troubadours, townspeople, and jesters as their mischief and humor transforms the stern, forbidding bishop, monks and nuns into gleeful dancers celebrating a medieval Christmas Eve. Act III, “Joy to the World” Be amazed as the Christmas spirit enchantingly dances, surprises and awakens the child in all of us! Delight as love brings toys, shoppers and dancers alive with joy. A DANCER’S CHRISTMAS CASTFor the 2008 and final season we are delighted to welcome back Andy LeBeau, former member of the Paul Taylor Dance company as well as many of the featured performers of past years from NY and Boston. Cameo performances by Boston's own Mary Richardson, Paula Ebben and Margery Eagan as well as other Boston celebrities. A multicultural cast of international and local dance professionals and a large junior cast splendidly dance in our production that has earned high critical praise for 25 seasons.
